      The Artist, Sukalyan Bhattacharya, is an internationally renowned choreographer, dancer, teacher and producer. He started his lesson in dance at a very tender age and continued his training under different "Gurus" in various styles, e.g. Bharat Natyam, Rabindrik, Kathakali, Martial Arts, Chau and finally Manipuri under Guru Bipin Singh and Smt. Kalavati Devi.


      Sukalyan has participated in various international dance festivals - Sangeet Natak Academy Festival - New Delhi, prestigious Konarak Festival - Orissa, Tagore Festival - England and Scotland, New Direction in Indian Dance -New Delhi, Kalidas Rabindra Utsav -New Delhi, The third Ballet Festival - Bombay, just to name a few.


      His notable choreography includes such productions as: (a) Calcutta 305, (b) Samsaria - East India version of Hamlet, (c) Chitrangada - a Tagore dance drama, (d) Juktta - illustrating five classical dance forms of India, (e) Nritya Malika, (f) Nuralddin's Life -an Off-Broadway production for New York and Calcutta, (g) Phobia Genesis, (h) Parijayee (i) Nabarasa, (j) Megdoot (kalidas's dance drama) (k) Chhuta Watan a live show with Ustad Sultan khan, Ustad Asish Khan, Sivamoni & Bikram Ghose, (l) Kalmrigaya, (m)Satabdir Aagun Dekhechi, and (n) Oi Nutaner Ketan. (o)Passion Of Spring (p) Chandalika.


      Since moving to Canada in 1995, Sukalyan has made numerous appearances for Canadian and Associations.He has also performed in various cities in the United States. Sukalyan has received several grants and awards namely, a national scholarship from the Government of India, Japan Foundation of Toronto Canada Council of Art ,Sterling Award in Edmonton, Alberta , City of Toronto ,Shastri Indo- Canadian Institute,Ontario Arts Council, Laidlaw Foundation. Sukalyan has worked with H L Hawk productions for a short film named " The Sun, The Moon and The Waves" for Bravo channel . Sukalyan was a visiting lecturer, at the University of Georgia. Sukalyan has been chosen as dance director/choreographer for several Bengali films for such renowned directors as Tarun Mazumdar( Allo),Satarupa Sanyal( Kalo Cheeta) and Ravi Ojha( Abar Ashabo Phere). He has choreographed for Ms. Sarbari Dutta’s Men’s fashion show that was launched in Kolkata on September 5, 2003. This program was a great success and received tremendous appreciation within India,Now he is working with Tajen mazumder,Tanmoy Bose, Debasree Roy,Indrani Halder, Satabdi Roy, for projects in Kolkata and all over the world
